Cooperatives and associations build the way to the development of the agricultural sector
AgroPortal.ua has recently published an interview with Evert Jan Crayenbrick, agricultural advisor to the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine, which discussed the state and prospects of Ukrainian rural sector.
Holland is the second country in the world by the agricultural volume in value terms. The leading role in the management of the Dutch agricultural sector is given to business, and the ministry controls the quality of products and stimulates innovation, research and development in the sector.
Almost all agribusiness companies are incorporated in the profile associations of manufacturers of meat, dairy products, potatoes, vegetables, etc. Associations are formed to implement the joint production, processing and export of their products.
That is, farmers jointly purchase equipment for protection of plants, organize storage, order researches, accumulate large quantities of products in order to compete in the global market.
In Ukraine, a lot of attention is paid to supporting agricultural holdings which produce export products - grains and oilseeds. But it almost does not support other areas. This model, according to Evert Jan Crayenbrick will not survive, it must be changed and the Dutch organization of agriculture can serve as a perfect example.
