UAC supports the abolition of customs duty on flax seed

On May 31, 2016 Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a draft law №4737 on amending the Law of Ukraine "On rates of export duties on certain types of oilseeds" concerning the abolition of export duty on flax seed, crushed or not crushed and camelina seeds. Association “Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UAC) supports this initiative, since the abolition of such barrier will allow to increase the production and export volumes of flax seed in Ukraine.
Export duty on flax, camelina and sunflower seeds was applied in 1999 at the rate of 23% of the customs value. Later it gradually decreased to 10%.
Under the terms of the Association Agreement with the EU Ukraine has to reduce export duties on flax seed - instead the basic rate of duty, in 2016 the reduced duty rate is charged (9.1%), while in 2026 it should be entirely abolished.
